Dance Team Auditions
Q: When are Sapphires Auditions?
A: Our audition clinic is held Monday through Wednesday during the Spring, usually in March. Auditions with judges are held on Thursday of audition week, starting at 3:00 pm.
Q: Is there a parent meeting for auditions?
A: Yes, information regarding auditions, including a breakdown of each team, financial commitments, and the schedule for the year ahead will be discussed at the parent meeting held in the Spring Semester. The parent meeting for 2027-2028 is scheduled for February 08, 2027 in the Main Commons of SLHS.
Q: How many dance teams does SLHS have?
A: Three. Spartainaires, Dazzlers (JV), and Sapphires (Varsity).
Q: How competitive are the auditions for teams?
A: Auditions are competitive. Candidates for our Varsity team should be able to show mastery of intermediate to advanced level dance skills. However, our philosophy in the Seven Lakes Dance Department is that dance education is for everyone, and we pride ourselves in including dancers of all skill levels in our program. There is a place for all candidates who love dance!
Q: Is studio experience required?
A: Studio experience is helpful, but not required.
Q: How many girls make the team?
A: The number of girls accepted varies each year. A set score determines where each candidate is placed.
Q: Can freshmen try out for the Varsity dance team?
A: Yes
Q: How does my student become a JV Spartanaire Dance Team member?
A: Each student who wants to be a part of the JV team must submit an application and video, and sign up for this course during course selections in the Spring and their parent(s) must attend the JV informational meeting. All members must be in the JV dance class period. JV Spartanaires do meet at the beginning of August for a Line Camp before school starts and are required to pay for line camp and dance supplies that will be used throughout the year. Please be aware that there are additional costs that come with being a member of this team.
